At any point in time, organisations have many inefficiencies in them. At the same time there are thousands of opportunities for improvements to make things better, faster and cheaper which organisations loss everyday as they don’t pay heed to these. These have a direct impact on the revenue growth and profitabability to the companies.
Most of these inefficiencies or lost opportunities for improvement exist in the organisations because they do not have a systematic process of brining meaningful change. They are not able to tap the potential of the people across the organisation. The involvement and engagement of people in the change process is a lot less than desired.
This stagnation of improvement and innovation also gets reflected in the stagnating TBEM score for some companies. These are natural, as during the mountain climbing the slope becomes much steeper and the environment becomes tougher, the same thing happens in the organization i.e. the going gets tougher and tougher as one moves up in the journey of excellence.
Methodology:
You need different kinds of approaches and interventions. What has taken you up here will not be sufficient to take you up further. Some new way of managing is required which calls for robust strategic planning and deployment, more robust operations excellence, more robust problem solving and task achieving ability, more customer centricity ,more improvements, more innovations and so on. It also requires strengthening our foundations further so that going up does not shake-up the base.
With our past several years of experience in working with various Tata companies, Tata Quality Management Services has come out with meaningful solution called “HISYFOG - Heads in the sky but feet on the ground” summarizes the approach very succinctly.
HISYFOG is an organisational capability building exercise which uses the best of the approaches from Japanese TQM and Western Strategic / Six-sigma Management. HISYFOG approaches will take the organizations further up in their journey for excellence as it intervenes at all levels of the organization e.g. Improvement tools & techniques level, System level and Culture level. While TBEM asks for questions, HISYFOG provides the solution and thus enables the TBEM journey to go up further.
