His designs also inspired the development of the printer and although he was not as well known during his lifetime, he has been posthumously acclaimed as the father of computing. Although he spent all his hours working on machines, he could not complete them due to lack of funding. They were assembled and completed by his son after his death.

An Austrian monk, he spent his childhood gardening and studying bees and later put his knowledge of plants to good use by studying the genetic information encapsulated in a pea plant. He faced ridicule during his lifetime for suggesting that offspring could inherit their parents’ characteristics.Today he is considered to be the father of genetics. He died an unsung inventor but his work has become the foundation for modern genetics.

He is the man behind a hugely successful burger chain and once famously said, “The definition of salesmanship is the gentle art of letting the customer have it your way.” He started his working life at the age of 15 as an ambulance driver and then moved on to selling paper cups,mixer-grinders and even playing the piano to make aliving. In the course of his travels he met two brothers Dick and Mac who ran a burger joint in California. More convinced than they wereabout the future of their burger business, he managed to buy out the brothers and the rest,as they say, is history.

Computers were her life. She was drawn into their world quite early but it was not until she hit the forties that she discovered how wonderful the system really was. She worked on an innovative software that helped bunch up multiple routine tasks into one and that led her on to COBOL. Everyone congratulated her diligence, perseverance and hard work but, in her own words, she was just a lazy woman looking for a shortcut out of a tiresome task.
